Richard is a corporate and funds lawyer with over 20 years of legal experience in the Cayman Islands, London and Hong Kong. He advises on both Cayman Islands and BVI law. He has acted on a broad range of funds and general corporate matters, including the establishment of private equity and hedge funds, acting for start-up ventures through to initial public offerings of shares by Cayman companies on NYSE, NASDAQ, AIM and HKSE (with both follow-on offers and privatization schemes of arrangement), and numerous venture capital or private equity investments in Cayman Islands or BVI companies. Richard was named in the 2010-2011 Asian Legal Business “Hot 100” list of pre-eminent Asia-Pacific lawyers. Richard is also recognized in the 2012 edition of Chambers Asia-Pacific as an “outstanding Cayman lawyer who is very flexible and incredibly hands-on” and is named as a leading offshore lawyer in the 2013 edition of IFLR1000. Richard was formerly the partner in charge of the corporate practice at Maples and Calder’s Hong Kong office and, prior to that, he worked for Gouldens (now Jones Day) in London.
