Partner
, Cayman Islands
Shaun joins us as partner in our Family Law and Private Client department having received his degrees in law and economics from the University of Auckland. He was admitted as a New Zealand barrister and solicitor in 1986 and spent five years practising at the Bar specialising in commercial litigation. Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and then in the Cayman Islands in 1992, Shaun’s first reported judgement in 1993 saw the introduction of the practice of the English Insolvency Rules 1986 setting a major foundation for the development of insolvency law in the Cayman Islands. With over 30 years litigation experience Shaun has acted on a range of high profile widely reported cases, including advising foreign governments, banks, insurance companies, Lloyd’s syndicates, underwriters and brokers, as well as members of the Cayman Islands judiciary and senior government officials. He is specifically sought out for his particularly specialized expertise in contentious high net worth family law matters and appears regularly in the Grand Court and Court of Appeal and has appeared in the Privy Council. Shaun has been described in Chambers and Partners as “One of the best litigators in the Cayman Islands”.
